Â
Bachata With bachata being so ever increasingly popular, we have three classes and levels available. Whether you have never danced this hot Latin dance or describe yourself as a seasoned bachatero, we have a class for you.
Â
Level one A class designed to give you a taste of bachata. If you have never attended a bachata lesson before or want to re-visit the basic steps, then this is the class for you. A simple, basic routine will be taught.
Â
Level two If you attended class one and fancy learning a bit more then you are welcome to attend this class. Likewise if you already have experience of dancing bachata you are also welcome to participate. Technique and styling is more predominate at this level.
Â
Level three Here's where it gets a little more difficult. To attend this class, you will need to have the basic steps firmly under your belt and be up for something a little more challenging. Styling, technique and more complex moves and turn patterns will be taught. Improver's or above for this class only.
Kizomba Basics Kizomba - Angola and Portugal are responsible for this beautiful dance. It is the latest AFRO phenomenon sweeping across the UK's dance floors right now. The dance is simple yet captivating and the music is mesmerising. Paul and Elena from SALSA SQUAD will be teaching the Kizomba Basics, join in, you will love it.
Â
Ladies styling These classes will cover the basic and the more advanced aspects of styling necessary for the dance floor. During these classes you will discover that dancing is more than just basic movement and your body is an instrument to express your passion. You will learn a short choreographed routine that will focus on balance, posture and presentation.
Â
Musicality Have you ever struggling to find the beat when dancing or lose track of your timing and don't know where to pick it back up? This class will break down a salsa tune allowing you to identify the various instruments that come together to make a track. Afterwards you should be able to identify instruments how/when they are used to help you stay on time!
Â
Rueda A fun way to dance salsa. Dancers form a circle and carry out moves which are called by one person (or "lider" in Spanish). Many of the moves are repeated as partners are swapped in a dynamic and exhilarating manner. A class guaranteed to be full of laughter and smiles as when one person goes wrong it effects the couples surrounding them.
Â
Reggaeton Reggaetons origins come from Panama and Puerto Rico. With its popularity rapidly on the rise world wide, you won't want to miss out on this high energy upbeat class! The class will have a strong focus on body isolation, increasing movement and flexibility through a combination of hot and energetic routines. No partner is required and beginners as well as seasoned dancers are welcome.
Â
Boogaloo This class will be highly energetic! Boogaloo is a mixture of styles including; mambo, R&B, jive and soul. There are many leg kicks and foot flicks so previous experience of dance is preferred for this lesson. You will need a good level of fitness and you can expect to get hot and sweaty. Nevertheless, this will be one of the more fun classes you attend today!
Â
Men/Ladies Shines Although salsa is usually a partner dance, danced in a handhold, there are times when you may break away and 'shine', basically a time to show off or flirt with your partner. In this workshop you will learn intricate footwork and body movement whilst improving your timing and balance. An absolute must for those who want to take their dancing to the next level. On completion of this class, your 'Suzy Q' will be gone forever and the fear of letting go of your partners hands will be a thing of the past. All levels may attend.
Â
On2 Cuban timing where pupils dance on the upbeat of 2,4,6 and 8 as opposed to the more commonly danced 1,3,5 and 7 here in the Southwest. Give it a try.
Â
Cuban Whereas Cross-body salsa is danced up and down the line with the men getting on and off the line, Cuban salsa involves circular movements with the leader and follower moving around each other. Moves are often more complex involving plenty of arm movement. Two levels available.
Â
Turns and Spins There is a big difference watching a dancer execute a controlled turn or spin compared to one who throws themselves around. This class is suitable for all levels whether you have been dancing for years or just beginning.
Focus will be on; balance, posture, preparation, spotting and landing.
No partner necessary!
Â
Cha Cha Cha A fun class for those that have little or no experience of this other Latin dance often danced at parties. Are you fed-up sitting out the couple of tracks that are played at most salsa parties? Another fun class!
Â
