'So You Thought He Could Dance'

Hugo Cortes was giving outstanding praise from the judges of the BBC Saturday night dance show 'So You Think You Can Dance' but being tied to another contract Hugo was unavailable to accept his place in the last 14. Hugo even by-passed the round of auditions where contestants had to undergo a choreography round and was given his 'Golden Ticket' straight into the top 100. Aged 25 and from Brazil, Hugo is a professional dancer trained in Classical Ballet and Contemporary.

Hugo presently teaches in and around London but tonight he is here in Bristol teaching two Cuban Salsa lessons; a partnership Salsa and a fun Rueda. Later he will perform with his partner ..... he guarantees you will not have seen a Salsa performance like his before.

Teaching the Beginner's this month in the Somerdale room is John and Shanon from Salsamojo. John and Shanon taught our beginner's classes numerous times last year and due to their popularity we are pleased to welcome them back. These will be fun but challenging lessons, suitable for everyone who already knows the basics!

 

 

For any 'Newbies' there will be two simple and fun lessons for you in the chill room by two of Salsabristol‘s very own team.

Your classes will include some simple solo footwork to start with and you will be taught how to: Mambo, Rumba, Back Step and Walk Turn. You will then be paired up and taught how those steps work whilst dancing with a partner. Your second lesson will follow much the same format as the first but it will come together to create a short routine that you can take to the dance floor!

 

 

DJ'ing the evening: Tim Heasman 'Carter room'. John Maloney 'Somerdale room'. Two Latin rooms with two Latin DJ’s. Both will be playing their own styles of Salsa and Bachata which will no doubt include R/B, Classic, Cuban and Salsaton. They might even throw in a bit of Reggaeton, Cha Cha Cha and Merengue!

 

 

Facilities: 2 Latin rooms, 2 Latin DJs, chill room, fully stocked cheaper bar, secure off road parking, ample seating, fully air conditioned, massive balcony for smokers, the friendliest people and your tables loaded with chocolate!
